A picnic adventure in one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s oldest outports, where local tales accompany every bite.
Your day begins at the Canon Richards Tea Room, where your lunch will be thoughtfully prepared and packed in a handcrafted wooden breadbox, inspired by those once carried by local fishermen at sea. With it, you’ll receive access to The Peninsula Experience app, which provides directions to your picnic spot and unlocks stories of your destination once you arrive.
Will you settle by the Green Point Lighthouse, take in the view at Port de Grave Harbour, or relax by the calm waters of Ship Cove Pond? Wherever you choose, the app will accompany you with tales told by locals tied to the very place you’re sitting – making your meal as meaningful as it is memorable.
*To make sure our beloved breadboxes find their way home, we require a $50 refundable deposit. After you’ve soaked up the sunshine, savoured your lunch, and explored the area, simply return the breadbox to the Tearoom and we’ll promptly refund the deposit.
